Jill Donnelly Golf Event

Tee-ing it off many years ago
The Jill Donnelly Golf Classic was started 30 years ago in memory of Conor and Gabrielle Donnelly’s daughter Jill, who was in St. Michael’s House care. The Golf Classic is, at present, St. Michael’s House largest single annual fundraising and sports event. Each year the Jill Donnelly Golf event sells out, with 256 golfers teeing off on two shot gun starts on the day. It is a great business networking event with full dining, a round of golf, prize giving and a guest speaker in the evening.
Funding
The Jill Donnelly Golf Committee have raised over €1,473,000.00 since the event began in 1990.
Funds raise normally facilitate the purchase of a new or second hand wheelchair accessible bus for the children and adults in our services.
There were 457 service users transported daily to /from home to their day service by St. Michael's House services in 2019. We had 127 vehicles in the fleet in 2017/2018. Over 50% of our fleet are more than ten years old. The Annual Jill Donnelly Golf event provides funding to replace aging vehicles each year. We have purchased 28 vehicles through this committee. We could not keep the service motoring without these funds.
Funds of average €50,000/€60,000 per annum continue to support a new wheelchair accessible bus for the use of two units. Transport enables the people who use our service to be part of the community, attend medical appointments and have a good standard of living.
