Social Care Workers and Direct Support Workers  

St. Michael’s House is recruiting Social Care Workers and Direct Support Workers to join our team. If you are looking for flexible hours, returning to work or seeking a career that fits your lifestyle, this is your chance to make a real difference.

We have part-time, full-time and relief roles available in our southside Dublin services in the following areas: Rathfarnham/Nutgrove, Goatstown, Walkinstown, Leopardstown, Churchtown, and Dundrum.

To recruit for these roles, we will holding our next Recruitment Evening on the 11th March in Dublin's southside area. Join us on the evening to meet our team, learn more about St. Michael's House, and interview for positions with immediate start dates.

Salary Scale

Salary Scale – Social Care WorkersSuccessful candidates will be paid in line with HSE revised consolidated Social Care Worker pay scale point 1; € 40, 851– point 12; € 57,217 LSI pro rata per annum which is based on working a 39-hour week.

Salary Scale – Direct Support Workers: Successful candidates will be paid in line with HSE revised consolidated Direct Support Worker pay scale point 1; € 34,536 – point 13; €47,954 LSI pro rata per annum which is based on working a 39-hour week.

Applicants with no prior public sector experience will be placed on Point 1 of the scale.

You will have the opportunity to work as part of a skilled and responsive team, delivering high-quality, person-centred supports and promoting a good quality of life for the people we support.


Essential Criteria for Social Care Workers

  • Experience supporting individuals with intellectual disability

  • Experience working as part of a team

  • Experience implementing positive behaviour support plans

  • Experience in a key working role promoting independence and community integration

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Eligibility to work in Ireland

Essential Criteria for Direct Support Workers

  • Must have prior experience of working directly with people with intellectual disabilities

  • Have experience of supporting behaviours that challenge and an ability to work within the constraints of clinically led support plan.

  • Eligible to work in Ireland
