St. Michael’s House and St. Michael’s House Foundation were delighted to welcome the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Daryl Barron, to Raheny Hub this week.
During his visit, the Lord Mayor met with the young adults who attend the Hub, as well as staff, and enjoyed a tour of the day service. He also had the opportunity to speak with the team about the supports provided at Raheny and the wider work of St. Michael’s House.
CEO of St. Michael’s House, Tara Molloy, welcomed the opportunity to introduce the Lord Mayor to Raheny Hub and highlight the community-based, person-centred supports provided to more than 2,000 children and adults across the greater Dublin area.
The visit also provided an opportunity for a positive discussion on some of the challenges facing people with disabilities as they grow older and more independent. In particular, Tara highlighted the ongoing need for suitable residential and housing options for people supported by disability services, both within St. Michael’s House and nationally.
St Michael’s House Foundation also welcomed the opportunity to highlight its role as the organisation’s fundraising partner and the impact of its work in raising much-needed funds to support services and enhance opportunities for the people supported by St Michael’s House.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity to showcase the work taking place at Raheny Hub, meet with the people who attend the service and discuss some of the issues that matter to people with disabilities, their families and the wider community.
