Caisleán day services recently hosted its first-ever Wellness Day, bringing everyone together for a day focused on health, wellbeing, learning and celebration.

The event began with a special presentation of certificates and medals to those who participated in the Sarcopenia, Strength and Nutrition Programme. The programme, delivered through the collaboration of St. Michael’s House Dietetics and Physiotherapy teams, has received national recognition, with the teams winning the Irish Healthcare Centre Award 2026 for Healthcare Initiative in Disability Services.

The presentation provided an opportunity to recognise the commitment, participation and achievements of the Caisleán service users who played an important role in the success of the project. Their dedication helped contribute to an initiative that is improving health outcomes and promoting healthy ageing for people with intellectual disabilities.

As part of the Wellness Day programme, participants also attended an informative session delivered by members of the Dietetics team, focusing on the importance of nutrition, healthy lifestyles and staying active. The session encouraged discussion about making positive choices to support physical health and wellbeing.

The day concluded with a relaxing sound bath experience, providing an opportunity for reflection, relaxation and mindfulness.

The Wellness Day was a wonderful example of St. Michael’s House’s commitment to promoting health and wellbeing, celebrating achievements and creating meaningful opportunities for learning and participation.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making the day such a success.
