The WorkAbility Programme at St. Michael’s House has introduced a new monthly Jobs Club, providing a supportive space for people to explore employment opportunities, develop skills and build confidence for the workplace.
Jobs Club sessions are shaped by the interests and needs of participants, allowing attendees to explore topics they feel would best support them on their employment journey. Each session focuses on a different area related to employment, with opportunities for discussion, learning and practical activities.
Recent Jobs Club sessions have explored topics including:
- Showing employers you are ready for work – including how to talk about personal skills and strengths, and building confidence for interviews.
- Looking for a job – including understanding job advertisements, searching for roles online and exploring different employment pathways.
The sessions combine group discussions, practical exercises, role play and the use of technology such as laptops and iPads. This approach helps participants develop confidence, gain practical knowledge and support each other through shared experiences.
The WorkAbility Programme supports people to explore their employment goals and access meaningful opportunities, with a focus on building skills, confidence and independence.
The Jobs Club is another example of St. Michael’s House’s commitment to supporting inclusion, participation and people to achieve their goals.
