St. Michael's House is proud to highlight another successful work experience placement as part of our ongoing commitment to inclusive employment opportunities through our WorkAbility programme.

Keith recently completed a work experience placement with NuBar at DCU, where he gained valuable hands-on experience in a supportive and welcoming environment. This placement forms part of a growing partnership with NuBar, who have now provided work experience opportunities to three St. Michael’s House service users.

The team at NuBar have demonstrated a strong commitment to inclusion by providing meaningful, real-world workplace experience that supports participants to develop practical skills, build confidence, and enhance future employment opportunities.

This partnership also highlights the value of job carving, an approach that involves working collaboratively with employers to identify specific tasks or responsibilities that both support business operations and align with the individual strengths and abilities of participants.

As referenced by Ray in his recent video, job carving can help businesses by freeing up skilled staff, such as chefs and other key team members, while simultaneously creating inclusive and purposeful employment opportunities for people supported by our services.

At St. Michael’s House, we recognise the importance of strong partnerships with employers who are committed to diversity, inclusion and creating accessible pathways into employment. These collaborations play a vital role in supporting individuals to achieve greater independence, develop new skills and participate fully in their communities.

We extend our sincere thanks to the team at NuBar for their continued support, encouragement, and commitment to inclusive employment practices.
