St. Michael’s House was proud to celebrate a significant milestone today as our first group of Registered Nurses in Intellectual Disabilities (RNIDs) graduated at a ceremony in Dublin City University (DCU).

This is a very special achievement for the eight newly qualified nurses, and a proud moment for their families, friends, and colleagues who have supported them throughout their journey.

The programme reflects St. Michael’s House’s strong commitment to valuing and investing in our future workforce, while also demonstrating the importance of collaboration with key education partners, including the DCU School of Nursing. Through this partnership, we are supporting the development of skilled professionals who will play a vital role in the future of intellectual disability services.

The graduation also highlights the organisation’s contribution to influencing and strengthening the wider sector, by fostering high standards of practice and supporting the next generation of nursing professionals.

We extend our sincere thanks to the many staff who made this possible, particularly our nurse preceptors who provided guidance and support throughout the students’ placements. We also wish to acknowledge the commitment and leadership of Clinical Placement Coordinator, Ami Purcell, and Nurse Practice Development Coordinator, Dawn Coyle.

During the ceremony, DCU President, Professor Daire Keogh, made special mention of St. Michael’s House and our graduates, recognising the importance of this collaboration and the achievement of those graduating.

St. Michael’s House warmly congratulates all graduates on this outstanding accomplishment and wishes them every success in their future careers.
