The SMH Workability team have partnered with the talented drama facilitator Trudy Nolan to create a new innovative 10-week course, which helps build employment skills using creative games, group discussions and drama exercises.
Ten participants from across St. Michael’s House took part and have now fully completed the programme. During the course they were supported in a fun, spacious way to explore their dream job, how to approach interviews, and to build teamwork and effective communication. They also creatively looked at how to manage conflict, understand comfort zones, and set boundaries.
Each week the class started with a fun warm up game and a brainstorming session, and then everyone also had a chance work together in small groups to create drama scenes on different topics.
Participants became more confident as they increased their skills in a relaxed and safe space, which many feeling encouraged to use their skills for a job interview or in their next work experience or employment pathway.
Congratulations to everyone who took part and a sincere thank you to Trudy Nolan for facilitating such an enjoyable and valuable class.
