Last month talented singers from across St. Michael’s House services got together in Clontarf Golf Club for an all-star public performance as the Friday Friends Singing Group Choir.

The group of over 60 people has been rehearsing for months to put on the performance. The choir is made up of people from SMH together with members from Prosper Fingal and Praxis Care.

Ray Maguire, President of Clontarf Club, said the group was set up in October 2025 under the Club’s inclusivity programme for people with intellectual disabilities. The SMH attendees were supported by the St. Michael’s House Sport and Leisure Team.

Pauline Dalton, Friday Friends Singing Teacher, said it’s the highlight of the week for her. “It’s a whole body experience, we sing, we dance, we do vocal warmups and stretches, and most importantly we have fun. You feel the love and the happiness in the rooms and it’s just magic.”

There were lots of behind-the-scenes nerves, but on the day it was a wonderful joyful event with fantastic skills and vocal range on display, and a full audience turnout.

Ciara, from Adare Hub said “I enjoy the Choir every Friday as we are all singing together as the two groups. I felt very proud when we are all sitting together.”

Kerrie, also from Adare Hub said she enjoyed going every week. “I like to go to the Choir every as it’s very good music. I love people, and I’d be very sad without music. I was very nervous at first, but then I really got the welcome party, saying “Welcome to the Choir.”

We send full congratulations to all the participants for their hard work, and brilliant performance, and a sincere thank you to everyone in Clontarf Golf Club for hosting such an inclusive and joyful group and concert.
