St. Michael’s House is proud to join the global community in marking International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2025. This day provides an important opportunity to highlight inclusion, equality and the rights of persons with disabilities, while also reflecting on our collective progress and responsibilities as a rights-based organisation.
This year’s theme, “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress,” aligns strongly with our strategic direction. St. Michael’s House is committed to building a rights-based, person-centred organisation where every individual is supported to live a meaningful and self-directed life. Through our strategic goals, particularly our commitment to service user voice, meaningful participation and influencing best practices across the sector, we continue to embed inclusion into every aspect of our work.
Across our services, we see daily examples of this commitment in action. Individuals are taking part in local community life, engaging in decision-making through co-collaboration and participating in innovative projects that amplify their choices, talents and goals. These achievements reflect the dedication of our staff teams, the support of families and the leadership of the people who use our services.
Today, we celebrate these achievements while acknowledging the ongoing barriers that many people with disabilities continue to face.
We also reaffirm our commitment to advocating for an inclusive society, one in which every person is valued and empowered.
