Last Friday, 10th October 2025, marked a truly special occasion, the inaugural Fast Friends Black Tie Ball, held in the stunning surroundings of Clontarf Castle.

This unforgettable event was a year in the making, and thanks to the dedication and vision of the Fast Friends Committee, it surpassed all expectations.

Back in January, when service users were asked what event they would most like to see in 2025, one clear favourite emerged, a Black Tie Ball. Months of careful planning followed, and the dream finally came to life in spectacular fashion.

Guests arrived dressed to impress, elegant ball gowns, sharp tuxedos, sparkles, corsages and plenty of glamour. After enjoying a delicious fine dining experience, the celebration came alive with dancing until midnight and a lively photo booth to capture the joy and excitement of the night.

Fast Friends is a hugely successful platform that facilitates opportunities for adults with disabilities to socialise with their peers and build meaningful relationships. This event was a perfect example of the impact of connection, inclusion, and shared celebration.

St Michael’s House would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made the night such a success:

  • The Fast Friends Committee, whose creativity and planning made the event possible.
  • DJ Andrew Fraser who kept the dance floor full all night.
  • Paulo from Felix Move photobooth for capturing the special moments.
  • Tony Murray (parent of Aoife from our Omni day service) who captured the memorable entrance photos for all the guests.
  • The Clontarf Castle team for their professionalism and hospitality.
  • The families, friends and carers who supported guests with preparations from tuxedo rentals and dress fittings to hair and make-up.
  • St Michael’s House staff who embraced the spirit of the night and supported everyone to have a wonderful time.
  • And most importantly, the service users of St Michael’s House, who truly made the night shine.

It was an evening filled with happiness and celebration and the perfect start to what promises to be a recurring event for Fast Friends.
