On Friday 26 September 2025, St. Michael’s House will join the Make Way Day 2025 campaign. This campaign highlights how everyday obstacles make public spaces harder to use for people with disabilities.
At St. Michael’s House, we believe access is one of the most basic disability rights. Public spaces should be open to everyone. Make Way Day is about raising awareness and showing that small changes can make a big difference.
We are inviting all members of the St. Michael’s House community, service users, staff, families, and supporters, to take part in this important campaign by the Disability Federation of Ireland.
You can join in by:
- Take pictures of the obstacles you encounter such as cars parked on footpaths, bikes chained to railings, bins, or overhanging branches, and post your pictures to social media.
- Include #MakeWayDay25 and tag @makewayday @disabilityfed, and @stmichaelshouse in your post. You can also print out this poster and photograph it beside the obstacle.
- Show your support by sharing and retweeting other people’s posts from the Make Way Day X , Facebook and Instagram accounts and encourage friends and family to do the same.
- Contact others who might be interested in getting involved and support Make Way Day
You can also get in touch with your local Councillors and ask them to support Make Way Day 2025.
By taking part and adding your voice to this campaign, you can help show how we can all play a role in making Ireland more accessible.
Thank you for your support and for making an impact this Make Way Day!
