After taking a five-month break, Kim has returned to the St. Michael’s House Horizons Project with renewed motivation and focus. With the ongoing support of his key worker Ray, Kim is re-engaging in key daily living tasks within the training apartment — including independent grocery shopping, cooking, and maintaining his living space.
A recent milestone was preparing a nutritious breakfast entirely on his own, which he described as a very positive and enjoyable experience. He now looks forward to preparing breakfast for his family at the weekend — a reflection of his growing confidence and willingness to take on more responsibility at home.
Kim is actively applying the practical knowledge gained from the Healthy Food Made Easy and Money Made Sense courses, delivered by Northside Partnership. These programs have supported him in making informed decisions around food, budgeting, and healthy routines.
The SMH Horizons Project is designed to support individuals as they build the skills, confidence, and independence needed for daily life and long-term goals. Kim’s progress highlights the value of consistent, person-centered support and meaningful learning opportunities.
