SMH Research Conference

St Michael's House in partnership with UCD were delighted to host a collaborative Research Conference in Ballymun HQ yesterday (27 February 2023).

Since November 2009, St. Michael’s House Research Department has partnered with University College Dublin in a collaborative Teaching & Research Partnership, through its association with the UCD Centre for Disability Studies at the UCD School of Psychology.  This partnership represents an innovative, effective and mutually beneficial initiative between an organisation providing services for people with disabilities and a research intensive university.

Yesterdays Research Conference, attended by St Michael's House Board members, showcased high quality applied research projects in the disability sector including;

  • Transition from school to adult life
  • Communication supports for people with ID in a local shopping centre
  • Using action research to adapt complicated grief therapy for people with ID
  • The use of a digital hub as a pathway to social inclusion for people with ID

and much more.

St Michael's House would like to thank everyone who attended, presented and showcased their extensive research at the SMH Research Conference with a particular thank you to Caroline Howorth, Director of Research (SMH) and Suzanne Guerin, Professor of Research Design & Analysis in UCD as St Michael's House continue to be a leader in the delivery of services to people with a disability building creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial capacity.
