This guidance covers the period of time from Friday December 18th 2020 to Wednesday January 2nd 2021 only.

Our Staff teams are working directly with Families on a case by case basis.

In preparation for Christmas and considering the rights and the risk of each situation we have delivered communication to all staff to plan for visits whether in house or external visits in the context of Covid-19.

St. Michael's House have adhered to the guidance incorporated the national guidance documents by the HPSC and HSE on the COVID-19 Guidance on visits to Long Term Residential Care Facilities (LTRCFs) and the COVID-19 Guidance to and from Community Housing Units for People with Disabilities.

St. Michael’s House wish to support families and service users to get together for Christmas, this will not be the usual Christmas for all and we ask that everybody meet up in as safe a manner as possible.

The guidance covers two types of visits:

  • Family Visits to Residential Homes
  • Service Users Visits to  their Family/ Guardian Homes

Below is an example of Family visiting a Residential Home this Christmas. There is a second detailed information on Service Users  Visits to  their Family/ Guardian Homes

There are only planned visits this year. Casual visits are not permitted . Please support our staff to support families.

FAMILY CHRISTMAS VISITS TO UNITS 2020

Level 1                    

4 visitors per service user allowed for 60 minutes per visit

Level 2

2/3 visitors per service user allowed for max of 60 minutes per visit

Level 3

2 visitors per service users for 30- 60 minutes max (taking into account the demand on the house for other residents visits)

Level 4

No visits -Except on compassionate grounds* Risk assessment must be drawn up and passed by Service Manager and Area Director

Level 5

No visits -Except on compassionate grounds* Risk assessment must be drawn up and passed by ServiceManager and Area Director
