Last Friday, a very special event took place in St Michael's House Ballymun HQ, as the Work Options Rock Choir welcomed friends from services across St Michael’s House for an uplifting afternoon of music, connection and celebration.

The choir was joined by Ceol Áine, the Friday Friends Choir — made up of members from St Michael’s House, Prosper Fingal and Praxis — family and friends. We were also delighted to have a talented camera crew from Coláiste Dhúlaigh there to capture the occasion.

The highlight of the afternoon was a beautiful and heartfelt performance of Dreams by The Cranberries. Over the past few months, individuals from across St Michael’s House have been coming together to practise and prepare for this special performance.

The Work Options Rock Choir is incredibly fortunate to work with Eric Sexton, who visits every week to lead singing lessons and share his love of music with the group. The choir chose Dreams because the song holds a special meaning for them.

What made the event even more meaningful was that it was person-centred and led by the people who use the services themselves — from choosing the music to shaping the performance and bringing everyone together.

A special thank you goes to all the staff in Work Options for their support, encouragement and commitment in making the event such a success. In particular, thank you to Catherine McMillan, whose vision, dedication and tireless efforts helped bring the entire afternoon together.

Congratulations to everyone involved for creating such a memorable event filled with music.
