St. Michael’s House marked HSE Open Disclosure Week with information stands at our Ballymun, Coolock and Goatstown headquarters, helping to raise awareness and understanding of Open Disclosure across the organisation.
An information session was also held at our Activity Hub for adults with disabilities. The session explored what Open Disclosure means and why it is important in our services.
Promoting openness, honesty and learning
Open Disclosure is about communicating openly and honestly when something goes wrong in healthcare. It supports clear communication, helps build trust and provides an opportunity for learning and improvement.
In St. Michael’s House, Open Disclosure is an important part of our commitment to providing safe, person-centred services. It supports a culture where openness, honesty and respect are valued, and where learning from experience helps us continually improve the support we provide to children, young people and adults with disabilities and autism.
To highlight the importance of Open Disclosure in our frontline services, we have also shared a video featuring colleagues from Abhainn service, who help demonstrate how these principles relate to everyday practice.
Thank you to Mary and Larissa from our Adult Safeguarding Team, and to the Activity Hub team, for supporting this initiative and helping to make information about Open Disclosure accessible to adults attending our services.
