CEO Update | Important Update re: Services and Industrial Action

Issued 8 October 2026

Website News

Dear Parents, Family Members and Carers,

I would like to update you on the industrial relations action by members of the INMO, SIPTU and Fórsa unions. This industrial action forms part of a national issue affecting health and social care services across Ireland and, as an organisation, we respect the right of staff and their unions to engage in lawful industrial action and recognise the issues that have led to this action.

Union members are currently taking part in a Work to Rule action which commenced on the 30th September and will continue until 14th October 2026. We are working closely with our teams to minimise any impact to service users and families and will maintain services where possible

On 14th October there is a 24-hour strike planned should a resolution not be reached. The safety of our children and adults is our highest priority and with this in mind, St Michael’s House will close all Day Services on the 14th October. We have sought derogation in relation to ASD services and await union confirmation of this and as soon as this is established we will inform you.

This situation is being monitored daily and if there are any further changes or updates, we will communicate these with you as early as possible. Thank you again for your patience and understanding,

Kind regards,

Tara Molloy
