Dear Parents, Family Members and Carers,
I am writing to let you know about planned industrial relations action by members of the INMO and Fórsa unions. From 30th September 2026 until 14th October 2026, union members will be taking part in a Work to Rule action. A 24-hour strike has also been planned at the end of this period, should a resolution not be reached.
This industrial action forms part of a national issue affecting health and social care services across Ireland and, as an organisation, we respect the right of staff and their unions to engage in lawful industrial action and recognise the issues that have led to this action.
At present, we expect the majority of St. Michael's House services to continue operating as usual. However, there may be some disruption to certain services during this period. We are working closely with our teams across the organisation to minimise any impact and to maintain services wherever possible.
The safety, wellbeing and dignity of the children and adults who use our services remain our highest priority. We are committed to doing everything we can to ensure that those who rely on our services continue to receive safe and appropriate support throughout this period.
While the current Work to Rule action takes place from 30th September 2026, there is a possibility that further dates and actions may be announced in the coming weeks and months. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will keep families informed of any developments that may affect services. Where changes to services become necessary, we will communicate directly with affected individuals and families as early as possible.
We understand that any uncertainty regarding services may be concerning. Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support. We remain committed to working in the best interests of the children and adults who use our services and their families.
