The Older Friends Social Group, a social group for people over 50 in St. Michael’s House, recently enjoyed one of their most popular events of the year, the annual Afternoon Tea.
Led by a dedicated committee, the group plays an important role in choosing and organising activities that reflect the interests and wishes of its members. The Afternoon Tea was a wonderful opportunity for people to come together, catch up with old friends, make new connections and enjoy a relaxed social occasion.
The event was hosted with the support of our long-standing community partners at O'Tooles GAA Club, who provided a welcoming venue and helped make the day a great success.
A sincere thank you to the team at O’Tooles for their warm welcome and support, and to #TeamSMH who helped make the event possible.
We would also like to recognise the Older Friends Social Group Committee for their commitment, organisation and continued work in creating meaningful opportunities for connection and participation.
Most importantly, thank you to all members of the Older Friends Social Group who came along and made the day so enjoyable.
Events like this highlight the importance of friendships, community involvement and person-centred opportunities that support people to stay connected and engaged.
