St. Michael's House proudly recognises and celebrates International Nurses Day 2026, paying tribute to the dedication, professionalism and compassion of our Nurses and Student Nurses across all services.
This year’s theme, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives”, highlights the critical importance of empowering and supporting the nursing profession to continue delivering safe, effective and person-centred care.

International Nurses Day 2026 recognises the significant contribution of nursing in Ireland, reflecting the values of innovation, diversity, inclusion and collaboration that underpin the profession. Within St. Michael’s House, nurses are integral members of multidisciplinary teams, working in partnership with individuals, families and colleagues to enhance outcomes and support people to live meaningful lives.
Nursing within our organisation is grounded in teamwork, shared expertise and strong professional relationships that endure throughout a nurse’s career. These connections strengthen service delivery and ensure continuity of care across all settings.
In line with the SMH Strategy, St. Michael’s House remains committed to valuing, supporting and investing in our nursing teams. We continue to foster an environment where nurses are empowered to develop their skills, lead practice and thrive in their professional roles.
On this International Nurses Day, we extend our sincere appreciation and gratitude to all Nurses and Student Nurses for their unwavering commitment, compassion and contribution to the people we support.
