On 1st May 2025, the SMH Green Team proudly launched its Green Team Charter—a key step in our journey toward a more sustainable and environmentally-conscious SMH community.
🌍 What is the Green Team Charter?
The Green Team Charter is a guiding document that outlines the goals, roles, and responsibilities of the SMH Green Team and services that have signed up to the Green Team Charter. It serves as a roadmap for our collective efforts to build a greener future—together with service users and staff across all SMH locations.
🌱 About the Launch Event
The launch day was a great success, with enthusiastic participation from across the SMH community. Green Team members were on hand to share information about their work and explain how day and residential services can get involved. Interactive displays and activities brought energy to the event, sparking great conversations and fresh ideas.
We were delighted to welcome over 30 service users, staff members along with Donnchadh Whelan (Director of Quality, Safety & Risk)Â and HSE Representatives Andrew Reen and Robert Sweeney. Their presence reaffirmed SMH's commitment to sustainability and to making real progress under the Climate Action Plan.

Formed in 2023, the SMH Green Team is a collaboration between service users and staff, working to:
Highlight the importance of reducing energy use and waste
 Promote sustainable and eco-friendly environments across the SMH community
We believe that small actions lead to big change—and we are just getting started.
