22 July 2021:  Second annual ‘Dawn to Dusk Daily Dip’ swimming fundraiser launched to raise funds for St. Michael’s House

St. Michael’s House Fundraising Team are once again challenging families and individuals to brave the open waters for the second annual ‘Dawn to Dusk Daily Dip’ fundraiser.

RTE Broadcaster and journalist Brendan O’Connor joined service users from St. Michael’s House to launch the fundraiser today.  Click here to view all the photos of Brendan who was joined by residents of Grattan Lodge and students from the Short Term Training Centre to launch the Dawn to Dusk Daily Dip.

Throughout August, the charity is encouraging people to take a quick dip, a leisurely swim or set a personal dip challenge between dawn and dusk to fundraise for vital supports for disability services. Participants can raise monies for their chosen unit or service with all non-unit monies raised directly benefiting St. Michael’s House service users through the Devices Project 2021, which provides devices to over 1,943 service users and their 3,000 family members to enable them to access support remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic.  Find out more about the Dawn to Dusk Daily Dip 2021 here.

Jacqui McDonnell, Acting Head of Communications and Fundraising at St. Michael’s House said:

“Due to the success of our 2020 fundraiser, we are delighted to launch our 2021 Dawn to Dusk Daily Dip campaign today. This August, we are asking people of all ages to join the St. Michael’s House team of Daily Dippers to support services for people with disabilities and in return, they will get to benefit from all the restorative powers that the sea has to offer! The fundraiser allows people to set their own personal goal, and sea swimming is a great activity to share with friends to enjoy the thrill of the open water in a Covid compliant way.”

Suggested fundraising challenges for August:

  • Seven daily dips a week
  • Ten daily dips in a month
  • A dip for each year of your age

On completion of the fundraising challenge, participant will receive a St. Michael's House Dawn to Dusk Daily Dip Silicone Cap.

Participants can register for the event online, which costs €15 per person, with a family rate available for two adults and up to three Junior Dippers.
