Donabate Respite Receive New Bus Donation

St. Michael’s House respite centre in Donabate received a new wheelchair accessible bus following a donation from the Progressive Credit Union (PCU). The €30,000 donation facilitated the purchase of a six-seater bus which will benefit over 110 service users on an annual basis.

The new accessible bus will facilitate increased community visits and provide further opportunities for service users to participate in local activities in a socially inclusive manner.

Jacqui McDonnell, Fundraising Executive at St. Michael’s House said:On behalf of the team at St.Michael’s House, I would like to thank the Progressive Credit Union for their generosity and continued support. The Donabate respite service aims to offer a ‘home away from home’ experience for our services users and the bus will enable service users to access local amenities more frequently during their respite stay. We wish to acknowledge and thank parent and annual fundraisers Sandra Horan and Derek Burke who have been main drivers for this fundraising support also."

Brian Howard, Marketing and Development Officer at Progressive Credit Union said: “Progressive Credit Union is proud to support St. Michaels House and the essential services they provide in the Donabate area. We are delighted that the new bus has arrived and that our support and donation, will be a welcome addition to the local group.

Now more than ever, services and social outlets are crucial to so many people, and we are proud to support these services. We take this opportunity to congratulate St Michaels House on their fantastic work in many local communities and wish them all the best for the future.”

The Progressive Credit Union provides support to local charities, clubs and groups in the North Dublin area through its community reserve fund in support of social, cultural and educational activities.
