10 Years! UCD & St. Michael's House

Issued 20 November 2019

UCD

UCD's Centre for Disability Studies and St Michael's House are delighted to celebrate their 10-year Memorandum of Understanding on International Disability Day.

Associate Professor Christine Linehan, Director UCD Centre for Disability Studies and

David Dunne, Interim CEO St Michael’s House will open this event in UCD on International Day of People with Disabilities on December 3rd .

The past 10 years of this strategic collaboration has yielded excellent results . Disability research findings often do not reach those who can apply them. It is vital to think beyond traditional methods of conducting and disseminating research, in order to bridge the research-to-practice gap.  We look forward to another 10 years of collaboration to benefit the people who use disability services.

Our in house St. Michael's House teams will be presenting research and discussions on the day. They are representing St. Michael's House as a leading organisation in Disability Research.

Congratulations to our staff team involvement:

Professor Philip Dodd, Director of Psychiatry & Research , St Michael’s House

Kevin Tracy, Clinical Psychologist, St Michael’s House

Elaine Teague, Director of Quality Improvement and Safety Development, St Michael’s House

Maria Nolan Early Services Team, St Michael’s House

Eilin de Paor, Clinic Manager for Adult Services, St Michael’s House & Adjunct Assistant Professor, UCD Centre for Disability Studies

There are also experts in UCD and other recognised organisations including Prof. Angela Hassiotis, Professor in Intellectual Disability in the Division of Psychiatry at UCL, will provide a keynote address on the gains from collaborative research within the academic and disability fields.

Thank you to all the UCD staff teams for their energy and commitment to this working partnership. Their joint research has greatly contributed to improving the lives of people with disability.
