The leisure centre received upgrades to improve energy efficiency and sustainability-

Minister for Communications, Climate Action and the Environment Richard Bruton T.D. visited the St. Michael’s House Leisure Centre in Coolock to inspect the upgrades that have been made to the centre under the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland’s (SEAI) Community Energy Grant Scheme. The upgrades have made the centre more energy efficient and have reduced its carbon footprint.

Additional funding for the upgrades was supported under the scheme by Retrofit Energy Ireland Limited (REIL) partners, who donated €20,000 towards the project. Keith Beirne, Managing Director of Codex Energy and REIL’s Consultant Engineers showcased the completed upgrades to Minister Bruton, representatives from the SEAI, REIL and St. Michael’s House.

Sustainability is a core value we all hold at St. Michael’s House, and these upgrades are a positive step forward in this area.”

The SEAI’s Community Energy Grant Scheme is Ireland’s national retrofit initiative which aims to upgrade buildings and facilities to a high standard of energy efficiency and renewable energy usage, thereby reducing fossil fuel usage, energy costs, and greenhouse emissions. The grant is funded by the Government of Ireland through the Department of Communications, Climate Action and the Environment.
