Mindfulness Resource Pack launch - October 10th

Issued 2 October 2019

Mindfulness

We are delighted to announce that the Psychology Department in St. Michael’s House will be launching our Mindfulness Resource Pack on Thursday 10th October  in Templeogue Enterprise as part of Mental Health Awareness week.

Mindfulness groups have been shown to have positive effects on mental health and psychological wellbeing. Mindfulness interventions can reduce stress and anxiety, increase happiness and positive interactions, and improve relationships.

This resource pack contains everything that staff need to facilitate a 7 week mindfulness group for adults with an intellectual disability . It consists of a Facilitator’s handbook, a Participant’s workbook, a CD with audio tracks on mindfulness exercises, and case studies showing how people have used mindfulness in their lives.

This resource pack was developed within the Psychology Department of St. Michael’s House with support from colleagues in the HSE, UCD and Cheeverstown. We also worked closely with a consultative group from one of our services who had previously participated in mindfulness groups.

Thanks to the generous fundraising of DAC Beechcroft we will be offering the packs free to services who volunteer to help us to pilot its effectiveness. We hope in the future to have it free to download from our website.
