St. Michael's House are very grateful to have been chosen as charity partner for the RCSI (Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland) sixth annual Teddy Bear Hospital event 1st/2nd February 2020.

Approximately 350 children aged from 4 to 10 years  brought their sick or injured teddies to this inclusive event.

Hosted by medical, physiotherapy and pharmacy students in the RCSI Paediatrics Society the event is designed to help children to feel comfortable around doctors and hospitals and learn how to stay healthy through diet and exercise.

On Sunday 2nd February 2020, the team hosted children living with disabilities and their families to a smaller and quieter session. During this visit, children got to experience twelve stations to mirror real aspects of a hospital setting including, triage, X-rays, pharmacy heart sounds, surgery and suturing to help restore torn teddies.

This was a fantastic learning experience in a fun environment for all the family.

On behalf of the management, staff, service users and families of St. Michael's House, we wish to thank all of the student committee and volunteers for organising a wonderful inclusive event. It was great to see so many of our own families enjoying the day. Thank you to all who attended and donated. We look forward to hearing how much funds were raised for our children's services soon.
