Thank you - Our Board Retirees 2019

Issued 15 July 2019

Board of Directors

St. Michael's House Board extends its best wishes and sincere thank you to Dermot O’Beirne, Jim Cuddy, Raymond Brett and David Hughes on the occasion of their retirement from their long service as voluntary Board members on the St. Michael's House Board.

Each member has brought a unique set of skills that have shaped the direction of St. Michael's House over the years.

Dermot’s areas of excellence include regulation, regulatory compliance, risk, quality assurance, complaints handling, internal audit and finance. He brought very significant governance oversight and review together with his finance background to St Michaels House and was the architect of the corporate governance renewal process which the organisation has engaged with during his term of office. He joined the St Michaels House Board in 2013 and retired in March 2019.

Jim’s particular skills are in strategy, business planning and innovation and he has been unstintingly generous in his sharing of his time and wisdom in his contributions to the Board. His daughter is a resident of the service. Through his contribution to the organisation on the Board and its Committees since 2003, Jim has brought to bear a deep understanding of the needs of service users from the families’ perspective and the demands on services from the Board perspective. Jim retires from the St. Michael's House Board in June 2019.

Raymond is currently the senior safety consultant with The Safety Partnership and delivers services to a varied client base. One of his many contributions to the Board and its Committees was his expert knowledge of Health and Safety matters. He understands the demands of the services and the challenges that service users and their families face as he has a son who uses St. Michael’s House services. Raymond retires from the St. Michael's House Board in June 2019 having served for six years.

The skill set which David brought to the Board was gained from his wide experience in management positions in the private sector including that of Financial Director and Company Secretary and statutory roles as Risk Manager Officer and Compliance Officer. As the parent of a daughter in receipt of services from St Michael’s House, he has great insight into the needs of our service users and the pressures on our services. David retires from the St. Michael's House Board in June 2019.

St. Michaels Board members serve on a voluntary basis and do not receive any remuneration.

We are very grateful for their time, energy and commitment to our services.
