National Nursing Strike Action 2019
There is a National Industrial Action, involving 24-hour work stoppages and non-availability to work overtime, taking place later this month and in February as advised by the Unions Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) and Psychiatric Nurses Association (PNA) who represent nursing staff of all grades.
This industrial action is not a grievance with St Michael’s House.
A St. Michael's House internal strike committee are assessing the scale of Strike risk and establishing contingency plans.
The first planned strike is Wednesday 30th January. This involves a 24-hour work stoppage from 8am Wednesday 30th January until 8am 31st January 2019.

- We have just been advised by the INMO that Nurses in Special Schools are exempt from the Strike on Wednesday 30th January. St. Michael's House six Special National Schools will remain open.
- There is a nationally agreed derogation (exemption) of strike for Intellectual Disability in residential services only for Day One of the strike- January 30th.
All of St. Michael's House Services will be open on Thursday 31st January.
Should the dispute go unresolved after 30th January further strike days could take place on 5th, 7th, 12th, 13th and 14th February.
Information pickets are due to take place at locations to be confirmed by the INMO and PNA. The INMO have clarified that passing the picket by non members and other unions is not an issue.
