The Launch of the Public Sector Duty Easy to Read Guide

Some Adults from our services joined Inclusion Ireland at the launch of the Easy to Read Guide to Public Sector Duty.

Inclusion Ireland got money from the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission for this project on the Public Sector Duty. A steering committee of six people with intellectual disabilities was picked for the project. Training was given to 11 people with intellectual disabilities on the Public Sector Duty.

Ailis Colgan from Turas was one of these 11 people. They also did training on how to give a workshop. Ailis received a train-the-trainer certificate presented by Human Rights and Equality Commission Chief Commissioner, Emily Logan. Ailis can now train peers in their rights in relation to public services. Well done Ailis!

The Public Sector Duty is an Irish law. It says that public services must protect and respect human

rights and equality.
