Research Ethics Committee

  • Research Ethics Committee

All ethical codes in relation to research are based on the principles of the Helsinki Declaration (WMA, 2000), and St. Michael's House strives in all its research activities to adhere to these principles.

Specifically, St. Michael's House has developed a number of core values in the ethical framework from which it supports research namely:

    • Having a commitment to the well being of those participating or involved in the research process.
    • Having a commitment to doing no harm.
    • Having a commitment to respecting the rights of those involved, including the rights of individuals to take responsibility for themselves (Adapted from CIOMS, 2002 & NDA).

IN ORDER TO DISCHARGE THE ABOVE CORE VALUES, PRINCIPLES AND SUPPORTS, ST. MICHAEL'S HOUSE HAS ESTABLISHED A RESEARCH ETHICS COMMITTEE.
