St. Michael's House Learning Resource Centre & Library offers a range of books, journals and training material for service users, families and staff in the field of intellectual disability. Through the IDAAL website, we have access to journal articles from leading international databases, Medline, Psychinfo and Cinahl. Access to the Idaal website can be made by contacting the library. Parent & Family Section
Offers a range of books and journals, which have been specifically published for parents and siblings to assist them to have a better understanding of their family member's disability and their developmental needs.
Assistive Technology Centre
Offers service user the opportunity to explore the latest accessible technology and educational software suitable for adults and children with an intellectual disability.
Accessible Books
Popular fiction, for example Roddy Doyle's "Not for Christmas" and Cathy Kelly's "Letter from Chicago", are available in accessible, easy-to-read versions.
Service User Selection
This area has a range of books covering a wide variety of topics that have been selected by service users
Children's Section
There is a wide range of story and educational books available for children.
Books can be borrowed for up to three weeks by service users, family members and staff.
