St. Michael’s House  are delighted to report that 90 thousand books were successfully swapped by Irish book lovers during the St. Michael’s House ‘Bring a Book, Buy a Book’ campaign 2010!

We had a 20% increase in ‘Bring a Book, Buy a Book’  locations involved in the campaign, bringing the total number of book swapping events around the country to 140.

This year’s campaign was alive nationwide, particularly in counties Dublin, Mayo, Wicklow, Limerick, Louth, Cork, and  Kilkenny and next year St. Michael’s House hope to develop the campaign even further.

Book worms from all over Ireland were asked to contribute their second hand books and purchase those donated from others at a cost of €2.00 per book. ‘Bring a Book, Buy a Book’ locations were set up in staff common areas, colleges, clubs and schools, giving those involved an opportunity to share book recommendations and stories whilst also raising funds.

We estimate to raise in excess of our 2009 campaign of €40,000 in 2010.

Thank you to all those who supported the campaign in 2010. Thank you to our partners: Children’s Books Ireland, World Book Day and the Dublin Book Festival, Littlewoods Ireland and Weslin Construction.
