St. Michael's House Group is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. Audited accounts are lodged annually with the Companies Office. Accounts for 2011 were submitted in June 2012. We also submit monthly and annual financial reports to the Health Service Executive.
In addition, we publish a comprehensive Annual Report detailing progress on services and summary Audited Financial Statements. This report is sent to every family and other interested parties, and is also available on our website.
All service units in St. Michael's House receive monthly expenditure statements in relation to their individual unit. These statements detail all expenditure by the unit and are available to all staff and families.
Full audited accounts are available from the Companies Office or by contacting email@example.com
The primary source of revenue funding is the Health Service Executive. In 2012 the organistion's funding allocation from the HSE was €71m Since 2008 the organisation's core funding has been cut by €11.2 and staffing by 160 posts.
The Department of Education and Science provides a grant towards the funding of our six special national schools.
The Health Service Executive provides limited capital funding for the development of Day Services. The Department of the Environment Community and Local Government provides capital grants through Local Authorities for the development of new community-based residential centres. In addition, we borrow funds from the banks for capital purposes.
As both the Department of Environment Community and Local Government and the HSE have not approved funding for new capital projects since 2008, all new services and improvements to existing services have to be funded by the organisation’s own Capital Development Programme.
Fundraising revenue is increasingly being used to supplement the organistion's grant from the HSE. It is also used to purchase and maintain our fleet of 104 specially adapted wheelchair buses, purchase capital items, and pilot new and innovative services.
