  • Organisational Structure

"Service users and families are at the heart of how services are governed, planned and delivered."Eamonn Fitzgerald, Chairperson.

    New Group Structure

In April 2012, the Board of Directors agreed a new structure to govern the organisation.

A group structure has been established which will allow the organisation to be funded under both section 38 and 39 of the Health Act 2004.

This change has been made in the context of the National Moratorium on Recruitment and it is hoped will enable us to better meet the demand for additional Early Services, Day Services and Residential services.

In addition, the new structure will give the organisation increased flexibility to adapt to the ongoing programme of financial austerity while delivering services that reflect the individual needs, wishes and goals of people with intellectual disabilities, based in their communities and connected to natural support networks.

The Board of Directors of St. Michael’s House, including Parent Elected Directors are now the Board of Directors for St. Michael’s House Group and continue to have responsibility for the governance of the whole organisation.

    St. Michael’s House Group

Services are organised into three geographical regions managed by a Regional Director and Management Team:

    • St. Michael's House North
    • St. Michael's House Northeast
    • St. Michael's House South

In order to esure that those making the decisions are familiar with the needs of individual service users, services within regions are organised into clustered managed by a Service Manager.

Parent and Family Councils: Parent and Family Councils provide parents and families with a formal structure to have an input in to how services are planned and developed. Each Council nominates two of its members for selection to the Board of Directors. Of the six members nominated, three are selected to join the Board for a three-year period. In June 2010, the members selected were Bernadette Perry St Michael's House North East, Breda Dunne St. Michael's House South and Raymond Brett St. Michael's House North.
