Five months of training paid off for the 36 participants in the "Lifting for Lucy's" fundraiser that took place in the Pavillions Shopping Centre in Swords on 22nd August 2015.
This super fundraiser, organised by parent Donal Lawless, was held in aid of St. Michael's House and The Down Syndrom Centre, was an extraordinary success and amazing display of strength and endurance.
They exceeded thrir target of lifting the equivalent of two Boeing 787 planes, climbing Mount Everest twice and completing 15,000 burpees (26 burpees per minute).
Donal Lawless, parent of Lucy and organiser commented: "We are delighted with everything that was achieved on Saturday, the funds raised from this event and the goals accomplished by the end of the day. So far we have raised over €28,000, and we hope that people will continue to donate so that we can reach our €50,000 target. I am extremely grateful to Jamie and the entire CrossFit team, who were committed to this event and each played their part. I would also like to thank everyone that showed up on Saturday and everyone that donated, their support and encouragement was exceptional."
Barbara Wiseman, Head of Fundraising St. Michael's House commented: "We are very proud and grateful to Donal, Jamie and everyone who turned out on Saturday in support of this ambitious event. The funds raised will continue to support ongoing projects such as new specialised equipment bags for Home Teachers providing supports to children like Lucy, but also to focus on providing training courses for parents of children in early services in order to educate them on the best supports available."
