The Fundraising Department would like to offer our sincerest thanks to our 2015 Corporate Volunteers who have undertaken projects for St. Michael's House this year through our Corporate Volunteer Programme.
AVIVA: Are undertaking a huge project for St. Michael's House this summer. Over the summer months, AVIVA staff are involved in completely renovating and re-vamping a courtyard in our Turas unit. Turas is based in Rathgar, Dublin 6 and is a day centre for young adults. This project involves revamping the unit courtyard in a learning garden for our young adults. The aim is to create a community hub, to invite the community in to help and support this seed to table/market project...This is a super project and we will be posting photos soon.
Starbucks: Lots of volunteers came from our supporters, Starbucks this year. One team came to our Longlands Residential in Swords, Co. Dublin and by re-vamping and tidying their garden, made the garden completely wheelchair accessible for our service users. Approximately 60 volunteers also came to our Ballymun Campus located on the Ballymun Road, Dublin 9. Concentrating on the Glens (High Support Residential Homes) and our Ballymun Special National School, our Starbucks volunteers had a hugely enjoyable day gardening, painting and interacting with our service users and pupils of the Ballymun Special National School.
KPMG: Our Corporate Volunteer Sponsors, KPMG, are enjoying spending the Volunteer Days in St. Michael's House this year. So far we have welcome groups to our Ferndale and Avondale residential homes which are both based in Glasnevin North, Dublin 11. We also look forward to welcoming some more groups to our Canices Road Residential Home and our Ballymun Road home in August 2015.
State Street: Re-vamped our Grove Local Centre's garden for the summer and re-painted fencing and some gardening furniture. Grove Local Centre is based in Glasnevin North and is a day centre for adults with a moderate to profound intellectual disabilities.
New Ireland: Completed a sensory garden and spring-cleaned the remainder of the garden in Breaffy House. Breaffy House is one of our residential houses for up to six adults and is based in Portmarnock, Co. Dublin.
Kwikform: Spent their day in our Sean Trabh Local Centre in Santry, Dublin 9. They updated the garden, making it easily accessible for wheelchairs, painted outside and mended a swing and some birdhouses so that our service users could enjoy their garden during the summer months. Sean Traby is a Local Centre providing day services to adults with a moderate to profound intellectual disability.
Google: Two teams from Google enjoyed a Corporate Volunteer Day with St. Michael's House this summer. One team spent the day in Moyle Road Training Centre based in Glasnevin, Dublin 9 and painted their Sports Hall. They also enjoyed spending the day interacting and supporting our service users in their activities. The other team spent a day in our Grosvenor Special National School, based in Leopardstown Dublin 18. They painted the entrance hall, cleaned up the playground for the pupils and also had the time to present on what Google does to the children in the senior classes.
AOL: Spent the day in our Mask Road Training Centre painting a colourful mural and re-vamping the centre's garden. Mask Road Training Centre is based in Artane, Dublin 5 and provides a day service to our service users.
Bank of Ireland: A large team from Bank of Ireland will be visiting our Belcamp campus this August. They will be tidying up the gardens in our Belcamp Local Centre, Day Centre, Cara Alzheimer's Unit and our Leisure Centre. They will also be participating in organised leisure activities with our service users.
JP Morgan: JP Morgan will visit our Glenveagh residential home this August. Located in our Ballymun Campus on the Ballymun Road, Glenveagh is one of our high support residential homes for service users with a moderate to profound intellectual disability.
