St. Michael’s House’s Omni Training and Employment Centre has been officially opened by Minister Pat Carey T.D. on Monday 19th April. The event was attended by service users, their families and members of the local community.
The Centre offers an innovative mix of educational, training, employment and social supports, which the Minister got a brief insight of when being guided round the centre by Joe Carr who is one of the persons using Omni’s services.
On the tour the Minister spoke with service users about their work outside of the centre and the social and educational programmes they are participating in.
“The opening of the Omni Training and Employment Centre is a very important milestone in the development of services for adults with an intellectual disability”, said Maurice Bracken, Chairman of St. Michael’s House, in his welcome speech. It reflects St. Michael’s House’s values of enabling people to play a valuable role in their community.
In addressing the guests, Joe Carr said that from a service user’s perspective, the Omni Centre represents a very welcome addition to the range of services offered by St. Michael’s House. Maurice Bracken, in turn, thanked staff and service users for their role in developing these.
We wish service users and staff at the Omni Centre every success in the future.
