"Hi. My name is Charlie and I am a thirteen-year-old boy. I live in a residential house with the Health Service Executive and go to St Michael's House's Ballymun School. I love music, especially musical toys and films. I go out on activities a lot and love playing football. I like when people tell me I am doing well. I work hard, but I sometimes find it difficult to express myself and can get frustrated by that."
Charlie, who has a severe intellectual disability, has lived within a residential home for a number of years. He is now looking to live with a family who will give him a new home, care for him and understand his special needs. Charlie needs significant one-to-one attention, a calm, structured and consistent environment, with a good routine and support with his behaviour.
Charlie's family are very important to him. He has three brothers, including a twin, who all live with foster families. It is important that a family caring for Charlie will help keep him in contact with his brothers, as well as with his mum. Ideally Charlie's new home would be in the Greater Dublin area. Charlie and his new family will be supported by a multi-disciplinary team at St. Michael's House.
