Following a wide-ranging consultation process St. Michael's House established Parent and Family Council’s one in each of the three regions in June 2007. The primary reason for establishing the Council’s was to ensure that parents and family members continued to have an input into the planning and development of services in the context of an expanding organisation. In the previous five years the organisation experienced unprecedented growth particularly in residential services when it developed 45 new community residential houses.

 The first term of the new Councils comes to an end in June 2010 and elections are currently being held to establish new three new Councils. All parents and siblings of service users are eligible to nominate themselves for election and we would very much welcome new members.

 On behalf of the Board of Directors, families, service users and management we would like to thank the outgoing Councils for all their hard work and commitment and we hope that many of them go forward for re election.
