    The Government’s Budget for 2010 introduces some important changes to entitlements for people with disabilities and their families.

     In summary the main changes are

    •  The Disability Allowance is to be reduced by €8.30 a week
    •  Carer’s Allowance will be reduced by €8.50 for claimants under 66 years of age. There is no reduction  in the rate paid to carer’s over 66 years of age.
    • Carer’s Benefit and Constant Attendance Allowance will be reduced by €8.20 per week
    • There is no change to the Respite Care Grant or the Domiciliary Care Allowance

    These changes come into effect in January 2010
