On November the 15th, St. Michael's House Leisure Centre and Swimming Pool at Belcamp celebrated its first birthday. The occasion was marked by a party for service users and their families. Highlights included a huge birthday cake, a visit from Santa, face painting by Dublin's Q102's Blue Crew, a disco, games, a family swim and a snorkelling class.

Since the Centre opened, it has proven very popular, with service users and families using the facilities on a regular basis. Over 9,000 individual visits have been recorded. Popular activities included family swims, swimming lessons, snorkelling, cinema and football nights, discos, club events, parties, coffee morinings and beauty days.

The event coincided with the finale of St. Michael's House Santa Swim, a sponsored swim which took place in nine swimming pools throughout Dublin. Over 450 service users, staff and different members of the public participated. Funds raised will be used to purchase specialist education and sporting equipment.

Cheered on by families and friends, service users and members of St. Michael's House management completed their final lengths at the pool on the day.

We would like to thank all who participated and supported the event. Read more about St. Michael's House Santa Swim in our fundraising section.
