A change from long stay charges TO long stay contributions. A change but no extras ! This is not just for St. Michael's House.

The Department of Health and HSE are replacing long stay charges with long stay contributions for all adult service users in residential services from 1st January 2017.A HSE long-stay contribution is money towards the care and housing of adults with Intellectual Disability in St.Michael's House residential settings

There is an assessment process to determine what the charge for each person will be. The Manager in the residential setting will be carrying out the assessment with family members/ next of kin in St. Michael's House.  The good news is that : nobody will pay anything extra as a result of this change; most people‚Äôs contribution will be decreased when the assessment process is completed.
